The lower links with ball eyes used in the lower power classes are now a thing of the past. Modern tractors are almost exclusively delivered as standard with catch hooks. The quick and easy coupling of three-point implements is one of the main advantages of this technology. In addition, the risk of accidents is reduced because the tractor driver does not necessarily have to leave the tractor seat or cab at least for coupling the lower links. Older tractors without catch hooks can be retrofitted. Already worn catch hooks from tractors of the younger generation can also be replaced by modern catch hooks. For the assignment of the correct category (Cat 2 or 3) please refer to the previously installed lower link hooks or ball eyes. Basically, the sizes or categories are divided according to the generally used categories in the three-point area. Catch hooks of category 2 are suitable for receiving balls with an outer diameter of 56 mm. Category 3 is used for a ball outer diameter of 64 mm.

By using reducing sleeves or reducing balls, catch hooks of category 3 can also be used for machines that have a category 2 mounting.

Due to the compact, modern design and the dirt exit opening, the Walterscheid catch hook is very insensitive to dirt. The safety lock reliably prevents accidental opening of the hook. Self-release is excluded. The locking pawl can be completely secured with the help of a screw (8 x 50). Due to the special design, the catch hook is very angularly movable and the mechanism inside is shock and dirt-protected.

To attach the new catch hooks, the old mounts (hooks or ball eyes) must first be separated from the lower link. The new hooks are then welded back onto the lower links taking into account the correct previously used mounting angle. If possible, this should not change the length of the entire lower link (ball mount from tractor to ball mount of the hook), as otherwise the lifting force and the mounting angle of the respective machines cannot be ruled out. Welding on the catch hooks should only be carried out with competence and expertise to avoid possible later damage.
